Cirian Geologi dan Geomorfologi Dataran Pantai dalam Penilaian Potensi Geotapak dan Pelancongan di Kuala Selangor, Malaysia

Abstrak

Penilaian potensi geotapak untuk geopelancongan jarang dilakukan di dataran pantai (mendapan sedimen berusia Kuaterner) walaupun kawasan tersebut menjadi tumpuan aktiviti pelancongan dan rekreasi. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai potensi geotapak di dataran pantai Kuala Selangor kerana ia dapat menggalakkan aktiviti geopelancongan. Pencirian geologi dan geomorfologi serta penilaian warisan geologi berdasarkan Garis Panduan Penyiasatan Penentuan Warisan Geologi JMG.GP.29 telah dilakukan di Taman Alam Kuala Selangor (T1), Kelip-kelip Kampung Kuantan (T2), Lawatan Memberi Makan Helang (T3), Bukit Malawati (T4) dan Bukit Tanjung Keramat (T5). Hampir keseluruhan kawasan kajian dilitupi Formasi Gula yang membentuk dataran pantai yang luas dan landai dan disaliri sungai berliku. Kawasan ini menjadi habitat flora dan fauna di T1, T2 dan T3. Kubah granit di muara Sungai Selangor yang dikelilingi morfologi tor menjadi tempat yang strategik untuk pembinaan kubu dan rumah api. Penilaian warisan geologi menunjukkan semua tapak mempunyai nilai estetika yang tinggi (EsV=60-75) dan rekreasi yang tinggi hingga sangat tinggi (RcV=32.5-50), iaitu berpotensi sebagai geotapak untuk geopelancongan. Maklumat geologi perlu ditambah pada peta denai sedia ada kerana semua tapak memperoleh nilai saintifik yang rendah (ScV=17.5-20). Hanya T4 dan T5 mempunyai nilai budaya, iaitu masing-masing sangat tinggi (CulV =75) dan sederhana (CulV=50).

Abstract

Assessment of geosite potential for geotourism is rarely conducted on coastal plains (Quaternary sediment deposits) even though these areas are popular for tourism and recreational activities. This study aims to assess the potential of geosites on the coastal plain of Kuala Selangor as they can promote geotourism activities. Geological and geomorphological characterization, as well as geological heritage assessment based on the Geological Heritage Assessment Guidelines JMG.GP.29, were conducted at Kuala Selangor Nature Park (T1), Kampung Kuantan Firefly (T2), Eagle Feeding Tour (T3), Bukit Malawati (T4), and Bukit Tanjung Keramat (T5). Most of the study area is covered by the Gula Formation, which forms a vast coastal plain, traversed by a meandering river. This area serves as a habitat for flora and fauna in T1, T2, and T3. The granite dome at the mouth of the Selangor River, surrounded by tor morphology, became a strategic location for the construction of forts and lighthouse. Geological heritage assessment shows that all sites have high aesthetic value (EsV=60-75) and recreational value ranging from high to very high (RcV=32.5-50), indicating potential geosites for geotourism. It is recommended that geological information be added to the existing trail map, as all sites have low scientific value (ScV=17.5-20). Only sites T4 and T5 have cultural value, with the former being very high (CulV=75) and the latter moderate (CulV=50).
